All-Day Apple Butter

10 min prep + 11-13 hr cook time | 3 cups
Make your house smell amazing while this cooks! For a healthier option, omit sugar and add a 1/4 c water. For a faster option, don’t peel the apples, just use a blender after cooking.
5 lg. baking apples
2 c. sugar*
1 tsp. ground cinnamon*
1/8 tsp. cloves*
1/8 tsp. salt*
*Ingredients available at The Country Cupboard
Peel, core and finely chop apples and place in slow cooker. Combine
sugar, cinnamon, cloves and salt; pour over apples and mix well.
Cover and cook on high for 1 hour. Reduce heat to low; cover and
cook for 9-11 hours or until thickened and dark brown, stirring
occasionally. Uncover and cook on low 1 hour longer. Stir with whisk
until smooth. Cover. Refrigerate or freeze.
