We're closed for the 4th! Indiana Blueberries most likely arriving TH 7/12. Will update as needed.
Did you know our brain is made up of mostly fat? And it takes eating good fats to keep it healthy. So we need fat in our diets to keep our brains healthy, but also to lower our cholesterol, to maintain healthy weight, to satisfy our appetite and to strengthen our immunity.
So which fats are the best? I did a little research and here’s what I came up with:
2. Butter and Ghee
3. Coconut Oil
4. Extra Virgin Olive Oil
6. Nuts and Seeds
8. Grass Fed Beef
9. MCT Oil
10. Full-Fat Dairy (Hormone Free)
11. Dark Chocolate (70%)
Did you know all these items are available at The Country Cupboard? Well, that is except for MCT Oil which is coming soon! If you need recipes or ideas on how to use them or if you’d like to know even what they are, please ask. We’re here to share information with you!
July is Great Health 2 You here at The Country Cupboard. There will be different tips shared each week, along with recipes. We’re still pulling coupons together, but stay in touch for an upcoming week of savings on a lot of healthy items.
This isn’t a secret, but do you know how many kids have used the steps at The Country Cupboard? Not very many! They all use the ramp! Who knew something could be so fun!

Amazing Dairy Free Cheese Sauce (aka Carrot Cheese Sauce)
Ready in 30 minutes
Those with a dairy free diet LOVE this cheese. It works for mac ‘n cheese, grilled cheese, in casseroles, and for nachos ‘n cheese.
1 1/4 c. water
1/4 c. olive or grapeseed oil
1 t. lemon juice
3/4 c. chopped cooked carrots (or more)
1/4 c. nutritional yeast
1/4 c. cornstarch or arrowroot powder
3 t. onion powder
1 1/2 t. salt
1 c. unsweetened dairy free milk
Thin cheese sauce: Cut and cook carrots in a medium saucepan. Add all ingredients to Vitamix or high speed blender. Blend on high until mixed. Then pour into saucepan. Cook on medium, bringing to a boil, stirring constantly. Once thick, remove from heat. Sauce thickens as it cools.
Thick cheese sauce: Only use 1/2 c. water and 1/2 c. milk. You can adjust the liquids and cornstarch/arrowroot powder as you’d like to get a thicker or thinner sauce.
This sauce keeps well in the refrigerator for 3-4 days. Do not freeze.
