It’s that time of year again when we stop to think about our mommies and how much they do for us. Even if we’re adults, we know Mom is still Mom. She’s worrying about us, giving us treats, making sure we’re healthy and checking in our lives. The older we get, the more we realize how much mom did/does for us. Oh What Fun It Was!

Our Pies & Pie Crust class was the other evening in our new classroom upstairs. We had a blast learning and making pie crusts together. See these happy ladies with their “perfect pies”? We think the secret is using an oil pie crust recipe. Did you miss the class? Don’t worry!There will be others in the future, especially now that we have our classroom.

 

Vanilla Crumb Pie – most ingredients available at The Country  Cupboard 

In honor of our recent pie class, here’s an easy pie recipe.

For the filling:
1/2 c. brown sugar
1/4 c. dark corn syrup or 1/2 c. light corn syrup
1/4 c. light corn syrup
2 T. flour (heaping)
1 tsp. vanilla
1 egg
1 c. water
For the crumbs:
1/4 c. white sugar
1/4 c. brown sugar
1 c. flour
1/2 t. soda
1/4 c. butter
Cook until thick.  Let cool.  Pour into an unbaked pie crust or graham cracker pie crust. Top with crumb mixture. Bake at 350 for 40-45 minutes.
