It’s Almost November

Scoops of News

Coming this week, along with all the holiday candy, is ground cardamom, pinto beans, navy beans and dried corn. Use the corn in soups or rehydrate for creamed corn and cornbread. And, by request, Lipton Yellow Label LOOSE Tea and Gluten-Free Banana Nut Bread.

Baked Apples

Did anyone try the waffles from last week? I hope so! They are fantastic the first time and great leftover. My guests enjoyed them too and asked for the recipe. Here’s another great fall recipe I often enjoy.
8-10 apples, peeled and halved
butter
1 c. sugar
¼ c. brown sugar
¼ c. flour
1½ -2 c. water
large marshmallows, halved
cinnamon
Fill a greased 9 x 13 with apple halves. Place a dab of  butter in each half. Mix sugars, flour, and water. Spoon mixture in apple centers. Sprinkle with cinnamon. Bake for 45 minutes at 350°. Place half a marshmallow on each apple when done. Return to oven for a few minutes until marshmallow melts. Baste with sauce. Serves 12-15.
