We’re Ready for Your Snack Attack!

Out with the Old Year, In with the New
Everyone needs snacks and games for New Year’s Eve. While we can’t supply you with the games, we do have snacks. Lots of them. And we have a snack mix and a story for you. Once upon a time, a chipper, kind lady whom we will call “Jean” needed a snack mix for a bunch of men. Knowing The Country Cupboard had many options, she stopped in one day and picked up a bag of the following: Honey Roasted Sesame Sticks, Honey Mustard Sesame Sticks, Corn Chips with Flax Seeds and a bag of mini pretzels. At home, she dumped equal portions together. The men oooh’d and ahhh’d and gobbled down her mix. They loved it so much, they came to get their own mix. They told their friends about it; their friends came to get their own. So here’s to “Jean” and her delicious snack mix. Stop in today and try it for yourself. Just ask for the “Jean” mix – or if you know her real name – you can use it, too!

The Jean Snack Mix

1 small bag of Honey Roasted Sesame Sticks
1 small bag of Honey Mustard Sesame Sticks
1/2 large bag of Corn Chips with Flax Seeds
1/2 (or less) large bag of Micro Mini Pretzels

staying away from gluten is not always fun. Social eating can be challenging and food events just aren’t the same. So we’re creating a fun, exciting, special food day here at The Country Cupboard just for our gluten free friends. Join us all day Saturday, January 11th to sample our gluten free bread and other baked items available for purchase from Sami’s Bakery in Florida. Susan Branch’s Hummus
5 T. tahini*
1c. dry chick peas/2 c. cooked chick peas/1 15oz. can chick peas**
juice of one lemon
2 1/2 T. olive oil
2 1/2 T. warm water
3 garlic cloves
1/2 t. salt
freshly ground pepper
Put everything into food processor – whirl to blend. Add more lemon juice
if needed. It should be thick.
*If using a high powdered blender, you can substitute sesame seeds
**Chick peas and garbanzo beans are the same thing.
Serve with veggies, garlic pita chips, sea salt bagels, pretzels, or cheesy
