Oh, the Weather Outside is Frightful…

While the weather might be frightful, these hot drink and cookie mixes are perfectly delightful. As winter weather appears to be on its way, sipping hot drinks and eating cookies is a great way to stay warm (and cozy). Making mixes is fun and easy. What a great, easy idea for Christmas. Here are three ideas for you:

Hot Chocolate Mix
Makes 18 servings
3 cups nonfat dry milk powder
1/2 cup powdered coffee creamer
3/4 cup white sugar

1/2 -3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1/8 teaspoon salt

(all ingredients available at The Country Cupboard)
Mix all ingredients together and store in an air-tight container.
To serve: place 2 T. of mix (or more) into a mug. Then fill with hot water. (Or maybe you like to add your mix to your hot water. Either way works. There is a debate in our family of which way is best.)

French Vanilla Cafe Mix
1/3 cup instant coffee
1 cup instant powdered milk
1/2 cup powdered coffee creamer
1/3 cup sugar
1/4 cup vanilla instant pudding mix
(all ingredients available at The Country Cupboard except for instant coffee)

Measure all of the ingredients in a clean dry bowl. Use a fork or a whisk to combine everything together, so it’s all evenly distributed. Transfer the mixture to a pretty jar, resealable container, or a zip lock bag.

To Prepare: Place 2 (or more)teaspoon of dry mix into a coffee cup. Add hot water to fill up the cup (about 3/4 cup hot water). Stir and serve.

Quart Jar M&M Cookie Mix

3/4 c. brown sugar

1/2 t. salt
(add flour n small amounts and then press down)
1/2 c. chocolate chips
1 c. mini m&ms or other mini chips
(all ingredients available at The Country Cupboard)
To make: Preheat oven to 375. Beat 1/2 c. soften butter, 1 egg and 1 t. vanilla together. Mix in dry ingredients from jar. Bake 8 minutes.
We have made these jar mixes many times as gifts and also for us to eat. We think these cookies are delicious!

Little Scoops of News

We have some great soup mixes and we’re ordering a few more kinds for later this month. Soup is an easy food to make and eat; soup made from a mix is even better. Also, just for December, we will ship any non-refrigerated item anywhere in the US. You can come in, purchase your items, and we’ll ship them. Or you can call in your order and we’ll ship it, too. There is a $5 packing fee, along with the cost of the shipping. We know you love the Sweet Potato Tortilla chips, now try the Black Bean Tortilla chips.
