Warning: Chocolate Recipe!

Looking for a good-tasting-good-for-you snack?
Have you tried our Crisp Veggie Chips, a combination of sweet potatoes, squash and carrot chips mixed with crispy green beans? They have only 130 calories per serving. Or maybe you’d rather just have a bag of green bean chips or our new item – beet chips! All of these are very yummy – just ask all those who come here just for their green bean snack.

Think chocolate sounds better? (Me too!) Try our dark chocolate covered almonds. It’s one of my favorite things to bag because just the smell of them is so inviting. Think you’d rather have something else chocolate? Try the recipe below. It’s easy, fast and very kid friendly. Do you have a favorite healthy snack? We’d love to hear about it. Email us or tell us about it when you drop in!

Chocolate Brownie Bites (Gluten, Dairy, Egg and Soy free)
1/2 cup raw almonds
1/2 cup raw cashews
1 1/2 cups pitted dates
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
3 tablespoons cocoa powder (use carob powder to avoid caffeine)
(all ingredients available at The Country Cupboard)

Place all ingredients in the bowl of a food processor and process until a sticky dough forms. If it seems dry add water a teaspoon at a time until it pinches together nicely between your fingers. Dump dough onto a sheet of wax or parchment paper and form into an even layer. Cut into bite size squares or roll into balls. Store in an air tight container in the refrigerator for up to a week or freeze. (We love these bites for a quick chocolate fix!)

We’re still getting new items in.
We now have sugar free hard candy, almond butter (yes, we finally got it!), beet chips, sweet potato chips, peanut butter spread (yes, we finally have this too!), flavored syrups, pancake mixes, dessert and savory dips and something for the kids – extreme sour smarties.
