Did you know that July is Picnic Month? It’s also Berry Month, Grilling Month, Ice Cream Month and Horseradish Month. Here at The Country Cupboard, we’re celebrating several of these. Check out our ice cream topping ideas for Ice Cream month and our picnic supplies for Picnic Month. We have an easy macaroni salad mix, coleslaw mix, veggie dip mix, cucumber dip mix, salsa, peaches, teas, Gatorade, red, white and blue twists and tons of snack options.
NEW is still a great word here!
We now carry bread, buns, Meister’s gluten-free flour blend and other gluten-free flours. We added more sesame sticks to our snack section and wrapped caramel squares to our baking section. Watch for the “new item” signs throughout the store.
Local Garden Produce Update
I noticed green beans, broccoli and beets arrived this week to join the lettuce, kale and parsley. Sometimes we have strawberries and rhubarb. Enjoy the great taste without all the work.
5 c. water
1/2 t. salt
1/2 c. + 1 T. small pearl tapioca
3/4 c. sugar
1/3 c. gelatin or 1 3oz. box jello
1 c. fresh or well-drained fruit (try this with fresh blueberries)
1 c. B/C topping (3 c. whipped) or 8 oz. whipped topping
(most ingredients available at The Country Cupboard)
Bring water and salt to boiling, add tapioca and cook slowly for 15-30 minutes (until tapioca turns clear). Remove from heat, add sugar and jello. Stir and cool Stir again while cooling. Chill overnight. Before serving add fruit and fold in whipped topping. Serves 8-12
B/C topping is similar to Rich’s topping but with a better price. It comes frozen. Just thaw and whip for already sweetened whipped topping.
